...the resentment of strength

Updated: Jul 13, 2021

What does it mean to be strong?

I’m really not sure how to answer that question because a person that is “strong” doesn’t normally walk around with a Girl Scout badge honoring that.. or are even in acknowledgment that strength is a trait that they acquire.

All they know is that their life is constantly bombarded with the quote of “if ain’t one thing, it’s five”..

They recognize what their life looks like and they become conditioned to handle it. They become conditioned to feel as if turmoil belongs to them, as if they inherited it at birth ..they are conditioned to wait for the other shoe to drop..because to be honest.. it always does. So to ask what does it mean to be strong is like asking what does it mean to be you?.. which in itself is impossible to answer for anybody..

But the question I can answer is how does the world treat you when they see you as strong .. and I would answer that by saying ..”the world doesn’t ‘treat’ you at all”.

You are invisible when the world views you as strong.. you are invisible to the ‘how are you doings’.. ‘you hanging in theres’.. you are invisible to anything that resembles help.. but why??? Because the world views you as strong.

The world doesn’t see the scraps and scars along your arms from the shoes dropping from the sky... the strained back muscles from you constantly picking them up.

They don’t see the wall you’ve built around yourself..

They don’t hear the prayers at night asking God.. please this one time just let me breath..

What they see is the beautiful picture that strength has given you the talent to create.. the muscle to build.. and the cleverness to hide ..the pain.
